Payroll Specialist

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled accounting professional with strong experience in Certified Payroll, Prevailing Wage compliance, and General Ledger accounting. Ideal for companies in construction, government-contracted work, or any industry requiring strict wage-reporting accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports (including WH-347, DIR, LCP Tracker, or other state/federal requirements)
• Ensure 100% compliance with Prevailing Wage laws, including accurate wage determinations and classifications
• Maintain detailed labor records, timecards, and job-costing data
• Coordinate with HR and project managers to verify worker classifications and fringe benefit requirements
• Reconcile payroll data to the general ledger
• Prepare journal entries related to payroll, labor allocation, and job costs
• Assist with audits, including state, federal, and union payroll audits
• Maintain accurate documentation and support month-end close
• Support AP/AR and other accounting functions as needed

Key Skills

• Hands-on experience with Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage
• Strong understanding of labor compliance, wage determinations, and required reporting
• General Ledger experience including reconciliations and journal entries
• Ability to review and audit timecards for accuracy
• Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with payroll or construction accounting software
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and deadlines
• Effective communication with internal teams and external agencies
