Payroll Specialist
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled accounting professional with strong experience in Certified Payroll, Prevailing Wage compliance, and General Ledger accounting. Ideal for companies in construction, government-contracted work, or any industry requiring strict wage-reporting accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports (including WH-347, DIR, LCP Tracker, or other state/federal requirements)
- Ensure 100% compliance with Prevailing Wage laws, including accurate wage determinations and classifications
- Maintain detailed labor records, timecards, and job-costing data
- Coordinate with HR and project managers to verify worker classifications and fringe benefit requirements
- Reconcile payroll data to the general ledger
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll, labor allocation, and job costs
- Assist with audits, including state, federal, and union payroll audits
- Maintain accurate documentation and support month-end close
- Support AP/AR and other accounting functions as needed
Key Skills
- Hands-on experience with Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage
- Strong understanding of labor compliance, wage determinations, and required reporting
- General Ledger experience including reconciliations and journal entries
- Ability to review and audit timecards for accuracy
- Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with payroll or construction accounting software
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and deadlines
- Effective communication with internal teams and external agencies
